Sony SSCS5 3-Way Bookshelf Speakers

If you do some searching around the Internet, you'll find that Sony's SS-CS5 bookshelf speakers get a lot of respect for the sound quality they offer at their price. This speaker is a 3-way design, but it does not have a midrange. The 3 drivers are the 5.25" woofer, the 1" tweeter, and a 0.75" super-tweeter.

Sony specifies the power handling at 100 W, 6 ohm impedance and 87 dB sensitivity. The company claims a frequency response of 53~50,000Hz.

Polk Audio T15 Home Theater / Bookshelf Speakers - $69.99/pair (save 29%)

Here is an affordable bookshelf speaker from Polk that's not out to reinvent the wheel, but does deliver great sound at bottom dollar value. Perfect for building out a surroundsound system, this is an excellent choice to use as a satellite along with a subwoofer. But it's also able to deliver crisp, clear sound when listening to stereo music. The biggest limitation here is going to be bass extension, so even for stereo music applications, you might consider going 2.1 and adding a subwoofer. But whatever you do, you're going to get a pair of good speakers at a great price with this deal.
